Meet at Temple Bruer church [map] We walk along a green lane to Gorse Hill Covert, head into Navenby to follow the Viking Way along the Lincoln ridge to Wellingore. We call at Temple Bruer Tower to see a Living History event and discover what life in medieval Lincolnshire was really like. There will be a pub stop after the walk.

Meeting Point / Venue
Temple Bruer is between Wellingore (A607) and the A15. Park to the side of the church.
Temple Bruer has one of the few Knights Templar sites left in England where any ruins remain standing. Its name comes from its Templar ownership and its position in the middle of the Lincoln Heath, bruyère (heather) from the French language current at the time. It was founded in the period 1150 to 1160 and the order was dissolved in 1312.- Location:

- Short walk on the flat or with an occasional incline.
- Easy:
- Normal length walk on the flat or over rolling countryside.

- Normal length walk over rolling countryside with a few steep hills to climb or descents.

- Normal length walk over hilly countryside including many steep climbs and descents.
