Castle Bytham Walk 8/10 miles
- When:
-
Sun 06 Jun 2010
10:30 h - 16:00 h - Where:
- Duck Pond - Castle Bytham
Walk Details
Delightful circular walk with our friends from the Peterborough Younger Walkers, the walk starts at the duck pond in Castle Bytham and we shall be walking through the limestone woods and shallow valleys via Clipsham and Pickworth.
At lunchtime there will be an optional extension to the walk with a visit the Yew Tree Avenue at Clipsham which will lengthen the walk by 2 miles. Those not wishing to walk the extra distance to Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue and back can wait at The Olive Branch pub in Clipsham.
Please bring a packed lunch with you on this walk as we will be unable to get a table at the pub due to its popularity (diners have to wait up to three weeks to get a booking).
This walk is suitable for dogs, however we advise against walking sandals as it does involve walking up a loose stoney track and through some low lying nettles.
Distance: 8 or 10 Miles
Leader: Karen H
Difficulty: Easy
After the Walk
Unfortunately both pubs in Castle Bytham are closed on Sunday afternoons; therefore, we intend to meet up at The Willoughby Arms in Little Bytham following the walk. This is a lovely large pub in what was the old Station and offers a choice of 6 real ales.
